The challenge with this layout is keeping it readable but 'good looking'. One sign rule is: the better looking you make a sign, the harder it is to read. So while the first layout is harder to read it is, according to everyone at the shop, the better looking sign.

Keep in mind monitors vary greatly in how they display colors. For instance, red can appear from tomato red to burgundy. If an exact color match is needed a color chart can be snail mailed.
